decadent multi-city birthday!

keeping in tradition with spending important dates elsewhere (birthday, new year’s, etc.) I decided to re-visit Buenos Aires – a nostalgic pilgrimage of sorts. the last time I was there was in 2007 where I spent about 4months doing whatever I wanted to do. At the time of this decision I had invested 12 years of my working life to the suits. My intention was to drop that life and spend some time abroad and taste another way of living, practically solo and displaced. Buenos Aires was inspired by the few times I’d visited (2003 & 2005). During those visits my cherished friend opened up the portal to this painfully beautiful city. Gaining the perspective from a Porteña I inevitably fell in love with the Paris of the South, the culture, the people and the history – tragic and exquisite. Not only was this a pilgrimage it was this first time my passport had been stamped since 2009. A few things have changed and a few things have not

not changed:
1. kick ass art (saw Leandro Erlich‘s work at Ruth Benzacar the day that I landed) 2. the meat is super tasty (lomo and morcilla in particular) 3. the wine inexpensive and yummy (discovered a new drink – cinzanno rose + grapefruit juice)

changed:
1. more people 2. not as inexpensive 3. the economy seems to be going downhill – again

The second leg of my tourista personae was with the lovely kickstarter (a.k.a. l.f.d., a.k.a. adq, a.k.a. aly)! she took me on the best tourist ride ever. Hop on Hop off double decker tour bus…something I’ve wanted to do for over 2 years! started the morning with a lovely cup of coffee (first since December 2011)..a walk up Polk…lunch at the fancy cordon blue..then off to the pearly gates of China Town to catch the bus! We split our session. The first leg of the tour took us around downtown, Fisherman’s Wharf, tenderloin + union square. Then we realized it was getting cold and we needed more provisions. We hopped off acquired our provisions and a warmer set of clothing then hopped back on just in time for a lovely sunset tour. The second set of the tour took us to Japantown, the Haight, then across the Golden Gate. The Golden Gate was pretty magical as the yellow goldish light from sunset matched perfectly with the bridge. The tour bus dropped us off at Powell and we took the F back to my hood where we had yummy oysters and champagne…poifect.

what else could I have asked for!!
