After a few months of fretting, 4 tech runs and a night before final test without both videos simultaneously being projected, the timing, the richness of the videos and the execution came off without a hitch for this single evening event. I couldn’t be more pleased. Returning came alive with Sharmi’s sonic delights! (Trisha’s strategic curation!)
Much Gratitude to Candace Huey, Amber Lee, Michael Mesereau, Adam the folks over at WWWWW and ALL the Edge on the Square crew (yes Rachel & Sam) – Michael Carney and Dave Goldberg. Most importantly to Trisha Lagaso-Goldberg
Inspiration by, from and with Jake Miller over at Return Home.
A week after her one year death anniversary (2023/26/06) Aly and I went to go visit her headstone over at Deansgrange Cemetery in Dublin. It was quiet and solemn…she’s happily laid to rest..lucky fecker
finally…after 6 years. This piece was created for the Way Bay show over at the BAMPFA (Berkeley Art Museum) in 2018. I’ve always thought it would be a good tattoo to compliment my other shoulder tattoo.
In less than 3 hours Wayne over at Nieu easily obliged. Love that she was a nurse turned tattoo artist (pandemic hit hard so she pivoted). Wayne noted the different outcomes when working with needles, ‘as a nurse sometimes the response wasn’t very good, but as a tattoo artist, it’s always good.’ I’ll be following (@wayneyslc) her work as she evolves.
The week off brought a few tasks into fruition. First, yet another visit to the PNW. As Cat is traveling, she let me stay at her lovely abode, here on Capitol Hill. All the amenities including a washer and dryer. Managed to get sick prior, so it was a great place to lay low (and think about EOL).
The first item on my agenda was to take care of the final arrangement. I’m super excited about this. I’ve been trolling Jake for over a year at Return Home, trying to figure out where/who’s gonna compost my body. The reason why Return Home stuck out is because they are focusing on the ‘movement.’
My engagement with this process has been beyond a personal interest for myself but for the planet. It makes all the sense AND is an area (death) that has become increasingly relevant in this fragile world. I recall a piece that I created, FEP (Final Exit Plan) circa 2009, inspired by reading the Final Exit (Derek Humphry) who’s book started the Final Exit Network…so in a sense this has been a topic that I’ve been interested in for awhile.
(this post may be changing as the sentiments about death shifts).
It was heartwarming to run into the march this year (long day at the office). I recall 20 years ago when the march was one block long. Love ❤️ Love this!! 🏳️⚧️⚧️🏳️🌈
