Right after the opening…headed out towards the Santa Cruz Mountains to the YURT. It was a perfect place and space to detox from ALL projects put forth (YBCA + SJMA). Needless to say – the adventures didn’t end there, while disconnected on Feb. 23rd dad kicked the bucket. In some ways it was as if he waited for mercury in retrograde to be, the chinese new year’s to happen and for all my project craziness to settle down. More in the next post.
the culmination of our second business venture, Manananggoogle. the opening was a blast and we have Monica to sincerely thank. It was super good to make work again, after all was said and done, we realized that it’s been 8 years since we’ve worked together on U.S. soil. I could go on and on, but I’ll let the images speak for themselves. Thank You’ze to everyone that was able to make it….truly our F.O.M.O.B’s
kudos to Christina Ree for spearheading (along with Angela) this project. Seriously a year in the making. I remember having discussion with Chris around projections and mobile projections – as the Luggage Store Projection Series was being formulated. They’ve been able to access funds from the James Irvine Foundation to really get this project off the ground properly. The equipment in tact (had a lengthy conversation with Brice concerning this, generators, sound, screen, etc.) and a friggin VAN!! This way of delivering cinema makes perfect sense in San Diego since it is a very auto-centric city. Look out for a MOB DBC action soon! get more info here
Reanne flew down and we descended upon the SJMA to install our work for the show New Stories From the Edge of Asia: This/That. It’s basically a mini-retrospective of our work spanning 17+ years. Totally commend Monica for being bold and making this show happen…apparently there may be some controversy (you’ll have to go to see). There’s even a warning for parents. I have to see this was by far theeee most smoothest install the Brides have ever encountered. The crew over at SJMA (Leigh, AnnMarie and..eeee forgot the two fellows’ names) made like 98% of it happen! MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT!
