LSPS: Lost Cities Event

Thanks to everyone who showed up and participated! We were lucky that the rain decided to come towards the tail end of the event. Personally, I thought to LOST CITIES was a success. The radio signal was strong – folks who tuned in were able to listen to the piece all the way down to 9th St. and behind the Luggage Store Gallery on Stevenson. Showdogs also participated by blaring the sound through their speakers – so folks were able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Projection Space in a nice cozy area space across the street. The bicyclists were awesome! A major shout out to Linda Trunzo for coming out not really knowing me or the artists. LOVE bringing art to the public!

Luggage Store Projection Series is pleased to present: LOST CITIES: : Scavenging the Cultural Apocalypse (video projection + sound installation)

by Chris Brown and Johanna Poethig

“Lost Cities” is a psycho-geographical, mixed-media narrative that explores pre and post apocalyptic urban landscapes and architectural backdrops through imaginary characters named “the sub-colonials” who move, dance, and tread through these past, futurist, and surreal environments. Technically realized using video projection and sound via low-power FM radio transmitters “Lost Cities” is an electronically animated shadow-play, inventing a futurist epic by drawing on the free association of sounds and images from many different world cultures.

In preparation for Guy Fox Day and all the OCCUPY action that’s been going…the DAILY SLOTS hit the newstands AGAIN! Who would have thought over a year ago our actions were appropriate for today!

We hit the following newstands – MARKET/POWELL + MARKET/MONTGOMERY + MARKET/DRUMM.

Just in case you forgot – here’s some documentation from last year’s project.
