brunch with the fabulous Celdrans

our last Sunday together was celebrated at Sala Bistro in Makati. I was craving the bottom-less champagne action. the food was impeccable. Tessa and I had the poached eggs w/prosciutto, Megan had a Croque Madame and Carlos totally went all the way and had steak and eggs. That was just the 1st dish…..the second dish was a chocolate croissant for Megan and I and pacakes w/ricotta cheese for Carlos and Tessa pretty indulgent. I decided that was my swan song of ‘decadence’.

After brunch Carlos treated us w/a viewing of Temptation Island! THEE MOST CAMPY-EST MOVIE EVER……much more than Showgirls!!! check out this youtube clip…then check out pictures from brunch

Foot Ionization…

slightly better than a high colonic! when I got back from Digos I found myself super duper sick..with a cough, fever & phlegm and it was taking too long to take care of itself. I was recommended by Tesa to go see her homeopath, Dr. Marissa Torres. Let me tell you how exciting it was! Not only did she do a full on scan of my chi – she was able to diagnose previous ailments. Turns out my system was depleted of some essential vitamins necessary to boost up my immune system so she recommended a drip (consisting of a cocktail of vitamins) a shot of Belladonna and a foot Ionization bath. I’d always been curious about the foot ionization process so I did it. I was feeling sick and exhausted but this treatment (along with the shot and the mainlining) totally jump started my system. And to see the results of the gook the ionizer pulled outta my system gave me a sense of “cleanse”. Read here if you want to know more. Based on all the browns and greens..looks like my kidneys and my gallbladder were in need of some SERIOUS ionization!

the Living Room and Carlos

Have to say the Living Room oozes with very very subtle nudges of inspiration..through random conversations, dreams and just physically being here – you can’t help but try to question/define just “what is filipino.” Blame it on my roots – even having been brought up in the US – being here helps me connect the disjointed dots of my filipina anscestry. Luckily for me, Carlos (a walking epitomy of an Encyclopedia for everything Filipino) has been a indelible resource. One tiny morsel of Filipino cultural genius he and ms. Ria Limjap shared was Lino Brocka – a filipino director I slightly heard of. He handed us “Tinimbang ka ngunit kulang” to watch…then after that I was hooked. Consuming other pieces like Macho Dancer, Maynila: Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag (Manila: in the Claws of Light) and more.

Here’s alittle preview of Brocka’s shit…totally gritty, totally 70s, totally PI!
(a very very high recommend)

Sofitel REALNESS

although I lost a bet to Megan (one night in Bangkok) I WON a bet…the bet was that we’d go back to the G Hotel and make like a “full circle” ritual…..until Carlos intervened (lucky me). Instead we spent a couple nights at the Sofitel Manila…serious world class 5 star s-h-i-t! We had a room overlooking the Manila Bay where we could see Corrigedor at a distance. We totally pampered ourselves w/an abundance of food and relaxxxation! Unfortunately I was too sick to do anything else. Check out these images!
